Default Should I buy clicks or impressions?

Blog from 1800Banners.com: http://www.1800banners.com/blog/2/sh...pressions.html

A lot of advertisers probably ask themselves this question when they are getting ready to buy advertising.

The answer to this question depends on the advertisers budget and targeting requirements.

Guaranteed click-throughs to your website are just that, guaranteed, while impressions have no guarantee. When you buy impressions (and all of your impressions are served), your campaign will stop running no matter how many clicks you received.

Buying click-throughs is generally much more expensive than buying impressions because your ads run until all clicks are delivered.

You can come out ahead when buying impressions if you have an attractive ad, and are targeting a specific audience that would be interested in what you have to offer. Also, different ad-sizes receive higher click rates, so you should apply your impressions toward the best performing ad-sizes.

On 1800Banners.com, we display statistics like (Avg. Clicks Per 1000 Impressions) by adsize for our advertisers to help them make this decision.

We recommend that you buy impressions first, a small package of around 50,000. Once your campaign is complete, compare the amount of clicks you received and the cost of the impressions to our Click-Through Packages.

A best way to see which advertising package is best for you is to buy one impression based package, and one click based. Now run two ad campaigns with same banner. Assign impressions to one and clicks to the other. At the end of the campaign, you will get your advertising results.

Well, i normally assume 1% CTR. Therefore, I will compare the 10 click and 1000 impression, and I will choose the cheaper generally. However, i will also consider the conversion rate too, it is more important.

Depends what you're going for really. Buying tons of impressions could get you some good exposure / branding... but me personally I'd rather buy clicks..

I had wondered the same thing so I did the math...

At $1.95 per 10,000 impressions and $4.95 for 50 click throughs (I'm assuming the ratios stay the same with larger purchases). First we need to make the $$$$ spent the same. So $1.95 goes into $4.95 2.54 times. So 2.54 purchases at $1.95 = $4.95. That means that 25,400 impressions (10,000 x 2.54) costs $4.95. Now we just need to compare...

50 Clicks / 25,400 impressions = 0.00197. That's the break even... 0.197% click throughs. If your banner does better than 0.197% you're better off buying impressions. If it doesn't, you're better off buying clicks.

I THINK I got the math right. If not, please enlighted.

IMO, Buying either one ends up biting you back.

I purchased organic traffic awhile back and saw a drastic drop in SERPS. Could of been just an unlucky time for it but idk.....To be honest I think Solid advertising or paid advertising programs are the best way to go.

Google adwords brings in a lot of impressions with relevant ads so that will equal more clicks. Google adwords pays for itself through clicks on my adsense.
